FIREFIGHTERS tackled a lorry blaze early today on the M62 near Bradford.

Crews from Cleckheaton and Odsal were called to the incident at 4am. It happened on the westbound carriageway between junctions 27 (Gildersome) and 26 (Chain Bar).

A fire service spokesman said the lorry's air suspension collapsed on one side and dropped onto tyres, creating heat and sparking the blaze. He added that the lorry cab was not damaged, but that 30 per cent of its trailer was destroyed.
