PHIL Parkinson felt City deserved their last-gasp 1-0 win over Port Vale today.

New signing Devante Cole came off the bench to score the only goal in stoppage time at an ecstatic Valley Parade.

Parkinson said: “I’m really pleased with a striker coming off the bench and scoring, on his debut as well.

“Devante showed that he’s a player prepared to get in the six-yard box and that’s where goals come from.

“It was an important goal for us and what a great start for him. The crowd warmed to him straight away.

“We were edgy first half and looked like a team that hadn’t won this season, especially at home.

“But we were a different side in the second and played with so much more positivity and conviction with the ball.

“It was a fantastic response from us and we deservedly got the win.”

Alan Sheehan was not in the squad and Parkinson confirmed the defender has been told he can look for another club.

Sheehan is considering a loan move and Parkinson said: “I feel it’s the right time for Alan to go.”
