PLANS to turn a long neglected area of scrubland into a shorts field and play area for the community have officially been submitted.
The eight-acre site on the Canterbury Estate, next to Horton Park Primary School, is unkempt and blighted by regular flytipping, and earlier this summer it was announced that the area would be the subject of a £100,000 makeover thanks to a grant from environment group WREN and money from Public Health.
The overhaul would create sports pitches, a bike and running track and play equipment in an area of the city with few public amenities.
Now, a planning application for the groundworks, and a 1.8 metre high fence around the site, have been submitted to Bradford Council by its own education buildings department.
A decision on the application will be made late next month.
