FUNDRAISERS took raising money for this year's Lord Mayor's Appeal in their stride when they battled through blizzard conditions to conquer the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
And yesterday, members of the Lidget Green and Yorkshire walking group went to Bradford's City Hall to handover a cheque for £300.
The group was welcomed by the Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Joanne Dodds who congratulated them on their efforts.
Eight of the members walked the 26 miles between Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough earlier this year to support the Lord Mayor's Spread A Smile campaign and Bradford Hospital’s Children’s Charity.
Mazhar Ellahi from the walking group said: "The walk was done on a day when the weather started off sunny, but we also had to face a downpour and blizzard conditions, struggling to find the Trig point at one of the peaks."
Spread a Smile will offer small grants for organisations and smaller groups across the district to enhance their projects without having to spend extra time raising money while Bradford Hospital's Children's Charity raises funds to help provide state of the art equipment for critically ill babies, children and teenagers, as well as play, rest and therapy facilities.
