CUBS and Scouts raised more than £250 when they spent a day at the Costcutter Store in Guiseley.

They helped staff with the White Cross store's relaunch and collected money towards a trip to the International Scout Centre in Switzerland.

The helpers, from Burley and Addingham, are hoping to be part of a 42-strong group, which will go on the adventure-of-a-lifetime next August. They have already held fundraising events and are looking for other ideas to help them reach their target, which will include provision for two full-time carers to look after two children with disabilities.

Store manager, Sharron Holt, said: "We have been at White Cross for ten years and have such lovely customers, and we knew they would welcome the Cubs and Scouts."

Burley Scout leader, Daniel Rodley, added: "It was a great day.

"Well done to all the Cubs and Scouts. They joined in so well and really enjoyed themselves. Many thanks to the staff and customers – everyone was so generous raising more than £250 for us."

Cubs who took part at Costcutters are due to move up to Scouts, which will enable them to be part of the trip.
