A VINTAGE clothing shop set up to give retail students a taste of the real world of work will open in Bradford city centre on Wednesday.

Forster Community College has prepared the empty unit, in Ivegate, to provide hands-on experience for hundreds of students on its retail courses.

The shop has officially been named Vintage Rebel, and will help students gain experience in customer service as well as other skills needed for the retail industry.

The vacant unit was formerly a Shelter charity shop, and is located next to a nail salon.

Sara Belhay, marketing officer at the College, said: "We already have one apprentice ready to start in the shop, and hopefully it will provide an opportunity for hundreds of learners.

"The College is trying to promote real-world training, to increase the employability skills of students."

The shop will also double as an information point for the College, running drop-in sessions on the range of courses available.

Anyone wanting to donate to the shop can call 01274 308707, or drop off items at the College.
