A NEW scheme at Holden Park, Oakworth, aims to tackle the litter, broken glass and other waste items "blighting" the area.
The project is called Perk up your Park, and is being spearheaded by the Friends of Holden Park. They are working with community development worker Pip Gibson, Keighley area co-ordinator's office and Bradford Council's parks and landscapes.
A spokesman for the scheme said: "This is in direct response to issues raised by local people regarding the increase in the amount of litter and broken glass blighting the natural beauty and facilities of the park.
"Perk Up Your Park offers an opportunity for local people, businesses, schools, churches, uniformed groups, community organisations and anyone with a shared interest to become involved in the park's care."
People can get involved by joining a litter pick in the park at 1.30pm on Tuesday, August 11.
Alternatively they can volunteer to carry out regular litter picks, or join the Friends of Holden Park's work parties. People can also offer sponsorship to go towards a litter picker's pack.
