A 99-YEAR-old woman who was taken to hospital after a fire at her home near Brighouse has died from her injuries, say police.
Fire crews from Odsal, Cleckheaton and Halifax were called to the pensioner's bungalow on Laburnum Grove, Lightcliffe, at about 10.30pm on Saturday.
The blaze, which was sparked by an electric blanket, seriously damaged the woman's bedroom. She was in her living room when the fire started.
Firefighters rescued the pensioner and she was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital, where she died.
A police spokesman said the fire was not thought to be suspicious.
A fire service spokesman said the blaze caused smoke and heat damage to the bedroom. He also stressed the importance of having electric blankets serviced.
