A £1.2 MILLION investment is set to give further impetus to the revival of Bradford's city centre nightlife with four new venues due to open next month.

A new alehouse, a Bavarian Bierkeller, a Tiki cocktail den, and a state-of-the-art nightclub will be housed in the former Royal Old Windsor Baths site on Randell Well Street, alongside the Alhambra Theatre.

The project - which has been supported by grants from Bradford Council's City Centre Growth Zone fund - will bring 80 new full and part-time jobs to the city.

Opening in the middle of August will be the Stein Bierkeller, an authentic Bavarian wonderland, complete with oompah bands, steins of draught beer, and snacks like Brockwurst, Frankfurters, and pretzels.

The Brew Haus will open later in the month, a more traditional pub serving craft-beers and hand-crafted cocktails by the award-winning Liquorists of Manchester.

The venue - which will specialise in artisan pizza and locally-sourced champion butchers pies - will also include a secret rooftop garden with views across the city centre.

Tiki-O - a Polynesian cocktail bar with full Tiki décor - and the Circle Nightclub - a contemporary club set to feature the UK’s top resident DJs and state-of-the-art sound and lighting - are due to open at the end of August, with the main entrances on Morley Street.

Fronting onto the venues will be relaxed outdoor seating areas, similar to the continental-style café culture which has proved popular around City Park and the Independent Quarter around North Parade.

Alex Thompson, senior general manager of The Brew Haus, said: "We’re all really buzzing about getting involved in the Bradford nightlife revival.

"It’s clearly the right place to be opening new venues and the right time, getting in at the start of a new era.

"We were all keen to open at the heart of Bradford city centre and were delighted to find this perfect location, adjacent to the Alhambra Theatre, not far from the Odeon development, and within easy access for the university and college campuses.

"The City Centre Growth Zone funding made it feasible to redevelop this fabulous building, and we’d like to thank the Council for all their support in bringing such an ambitious project to fruition."

David Robertson-Brown, of nearby Glyde House, has been working to promote the Growth Zone for the Council, and said he was excited about the renewed fortunes of the city’s West End.

"There is so much happening at the moment," he said.

"The landscaping of the former Tyrls police station will be complete in October, and this will open up and connect City Park to the West End.

"In November, 700 more council staff move into the old library building creating footfall for local businesses.

"We are delighted to have been able to help the investors of the new bars to access financial support from the Growth Zone project, as part of our work with Bradford Council to encourage inward investment.

"The combined impact will radically raise quality standards of the city’s night-time offer, create dozens of good, sustainable jobs, and help make the West End a premiere city centre leisure destination, as it used to be."
