TWO men who took it in turns to rape a vulnerable young woman in an unoccupied house in Bradford after she was plied with alcohol and drugs have each been jailed for 11 years.

The victim, then 23, had been left so traumatised by her "humiliating and degrading" ordeal that she was treated in intensive care for an overdose, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.

She now hardly ever went out and had suffered nightmares and anxiety about having to give evidence in court.

Yassir Mehmood, 32, and Yasir Mahmood, 30, who were workmates at a bed factory, were convicted by a jury at Bradford Crown Court of raping the woman on October 17, 2013.

Mahmood, of Hill Top Estate, Kilpin Hill, Heckmondwike, punched her in the face and held her down while Mehmood raped her.

Mehmood, of Moorside End, Dewsbury Moor, then immediately raped her himself.

She told the court Mehmood poured her vodka and the men gave her cannabis before taking her to the house at a location she was never able to identify to the police.

She had willingly gone with them to Bradford where the men bought skunk cannabis from a lock-up garage.

The men, who are both married with children, were ordered to sign on the sex offenders register for life.

A Sexual Harm Prevention Order bans them from ever contacting their victim.

Judge David Hatton QC said the pair formulated a plan to use the woman for their own sexual pleasure.

"She was, as you yourselves knew, a vulnerable woman, being to some degree dependent on drink," he said.

"Mehmood poured her more drink and you both supplied her with cannabis that made her feel dizzy. I consider this to have been part of your scheme.

"She was taken to a house and there immediately used by both of you. Mehmood raped her while Mahmood held her down in humiliating and degrading circumstances.

"If that was not enough, then you Mehmood immediately raped her yourself. She was in great distress throughout, something to which you gave not a thought or care in your pursuit of physical gratification."

The judge added: "Your previous good character counts for little against the gravity of your deeds."

Prosecutor Andrew Dallas said the woman, who does not live in the Bradford area, was now taking anti-depressant tablets.

She was unable to work and had taken several overdoses due to the trauma she had suffered due to the attack.

She only went out socially in the company of a couple of very supportive friends.

Both defendants had denied the charges and had claimed to the jury that they both had consensual sex with the woman.
