You probably have most of your summer fashion shopping list sorted by now, but as we kick into high season, thoughts turn to accessories, and how to enhance those hot weather outfits.

There's nothing like a pair of shiny new shoes to transform your look - and now that the sales have started, you can get your hands (and feet) on some serious bargains.

Whether you're looking for sensible daytime sandals, playtime platforms or anything in between, these are the shoes to step out in now...

DISCO DANCERS

The most literal distillation of the catwalk-inspired Studio 54 trend? That'll be the towering platforms just itching for a dance floor to boogie on.

They may be high of heel but with their low-level platform soles, peep toes and ankle straps, this season's Seventies homages aren't as chunky as their predecessors, and in pretty pastel shades, they're a good match for floaty gypsy frocks, as well as A-line miniskirts.

IT'S A TIE

One of this year's biggest shoe trends originated on the Chloe SS15 catwalk, where model's shapely shins were encased in pink suede flats laced up to the knee.

Melding gladiator sandals and ballet slippers, the pointed toe versions on the high street have been a major hit with bloggers and street style stars, and now lots of summer sandals have been given the ankle-tie treatment too.

BLOCK PARTY

Want the comfort and height of a wedge without the weightiness? Then get acquainted with the block-heeled sandal this season.

Whether low, mid or high, this Sixties-inspired shoe is a great all-rounder, taking you from office to evening and even the great outdoors - no getting your stilettos stuck in the grass this time.

:: Wallis Lilac and Blue Strap Sandal, £14 (previously £32) (wallis.co.uk)

:: Ravel Tucson Block Heeled Sandals, £35 (previously £70) (Very.co.uk)

PRETTY UGLY

While some of us balk at the so-called 'ugly shoe' trend, others rejoice in these aesthetically questionable but oh-so-comfy creations.

If you're in the latter camp, you'll be glad to know these sole-saviours aren't going anywhere, with clogs, Birkenstocks and pool sliders all sticking around this summer.

But if you're Team Pretty on this one, some of this season's sleeker reincarnations, with their cute prints and subtle straps, might actually take your fancy.

:: Faith Closed Toe Leather Clogs, £38.50 (previously £55) (missselfridge.com)

GET YOUR SKATES ON

It's a matter of preference, of course, but in some stylish circles it's said that the reign of the round-toed ballet is over, and that the cool-girl flat of choice is now the skater shoe.

Characterised by a thick white sole and low-cut upper, these slip-on or lace-up trainers are a great off-duty option paired with rolled up jeans or a midi skirt.
