POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an "unprovoked" attack on a taxi-driver near Bradford.

The 32-year-old male victim was sat in his vehicle on Bradford Road, Cleckheaton, near to the Chain Bar roundabout, when an unknown man approached the vehicle, opened the driver's door and assaulted him before making off with his mobile phone.

The victim received facial injuries following the incident, which took place around 6.45pm on Tuesday, June 23.

The suspect is described as white, about 35-years-old, of broad build, with light brown balding hair.

Police Constable Michelle Dhurmea, of Kirklees CID, said: "This was an unprovoked attack, that took place during the early part of the evening and I am certain someone will have seen something.

"I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information to come forward. Enquiries are ongoing."
