THE vacant former constituency offices of deposed Bradford West MP George Galloway could become a hairdressers and tanning salon.

The offices in Grattan Road, Bradford, have been empty since Mr Galloway's unsuccessful re-election campaign in May, and are now the subject of a planning application to Bradford Council.

Garth Durkin has applied to change the use of the building to allow a hairdressers on the ground floor and a first floor sun lounge, a development he says will create two full-time and two part-time jobs.

His application states the property has been vacant since May, adding: "Early this year it was used by George Galloway as the Respect Party's constituency office.

"The change of use will provide new employment and bring an empty building back into use."

Mr Durkin says it is intended the salon will open between 9am and 7pm.

The Council is due to decide on the application next month.
