BRADFORD Council is continuing efforts to gain a Possession Order to evict travellers from a site near a new cycleway in Shipley a week after they arrived on the Greenway route.
The group of about eight caravans and motorhomes originally parked up on land opposite Valley Road, but have now moved further towards Bradford and are in a more discrete spot between Powell Road and Gaisby Lane.
Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw (Lab, Windhill and Wrose) said: "This is very frustrating for the Council and local residents as we're also having to clear up the mess they leave behind.
"The Council were statutorily obliged to refurbish permanent sites for them to stay on, many traveller groups do use them and this group should too."
A spokesman for the Council said: "We are applying to the court to obtain a possession order for the site to remove those illegally camped on it as soon as possible.
"When they have moved on we will clean up the site and restore it to its original condition."
