GENEROUS customers at a Bradford store are making donations to help food banks in the city and across Yorkshire.

Staff at Tesco Extra in Great Horton Road are among Tesco stores, including the superstore on Canal Road, collecting food from customers all this week - with a little help from members of the 69 Bradford South Cubs.

Organisations set to benefit include Bradford Red Cross and Bradford Metropolitan Food Bank, although the food could be sent to other food banks in Yorkshire.

The collecting will continue until 8pm on Sunday, July 5.

Tesco staff manning the event included Laura Hallas, Megan Cowley, Sanam Shafoor, Tasneem Kacholia, Matt Heywood and Theresa Wigglesworth.

Volunteer cubs are helping out in the evenings.

The store is hoping to collect enough food for 6,000 meals.

Tesco has pledged to add 30 per cent to all donations.

Customers who wish to donate are urged to give long-life products such as cans and pasta.
