The team at Specsavers in Idle has long been committed to raising money for Guide Dogs, and having reached its fundraising target of £5,000, will be able to pay for the breeding and early training of a guide dog puppy, and choose its name.

Bhrat Phakey, store director at Idle Specsavers, said: "We’re absolutely thrilled to have reached our target, and would like to thank our loyal customers for their continued support at our fundraising events.

"‘That’s why we’ve decided to open up this exciting opportunity to the public A name is the first gift that a guide dog puppy receives, and this is a chance for someone to play a special part in its life changing story.

"We’ll be sending off three suggestions, and one of them might be yours."

The names most likely to be picked should be two syllables long, and shouldn’t resemble dog training commands like ‘sit’, ‘wait’ and ‘stand’. Suggestions should be emailed to store.idle@st.uk.specsavers.com by Tuesday, July 7.
