A GCSE pupil ended her school year in style when she got a drastic new haircut just after her final exam.
At the Year 11 Leavers’ Lunch at Titus Salt School in Baildon, Lauren Kilvington-0’Connor had her trademark 71cm pony tail chopped off for the children’s charity, Little Princess Trust, and had it replaces with a shaved head.
The charity collects real her to create wigs for children suffering from hair loss.
With City Gents hairdresser, Shareen Kellett ready to do the cutting and Lauren’s friends and family looking on, the scene was set for the scissor snipping extravaganza.
Despite tears welling up at the thought of losing her hair, Lauren remained calm and focused on her goal; to help children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.
The hair will be sent to the charity, along with a cheque for over £500, although donations are still coming in. Lauren was awarded a goody bag of Beever hair products worth over £60 for her selfless act.
Assistant Year Leader Sam Downey said: “We are so proud of Lauren for what she has done for the Trust and Lauren looks amazing with a shaved head.”
Lauren said: "Losing your hair through cancer must be a very traumatic experience, I just wanted to help in some way.”
