RESIDENTS in Wyke can feel safer after their housing provider unveiled a new CCTV system designed to combat anti-social and nuisance behaviour.
Accent Housing has installed 16 hi-tech cameras at Shirley Manor Gardens to provide reassurance to tenants in its 36 units on the site.
The new cloud-based wireless system can be monitored 24-hours a day online, with the company able to send images directly to police in case of an incident.
Tim Bamber, anti-social behaviour lead for Accent in Yorkshire and Humberside, said: "We have installed the system to ensure a personal and better service for our customers, as we want to make them feel safe, involved, and reassured.
"We are also looking to improve our links with the police and the Council.
"We asked residents prior to putting the cameras in, and many said it would make them feel a lot safer.
"We have installed the cameras on other sites, and the quality of images has helped to rid them of anti-social behaviour."
