PUPILS put together 500 food parcels for the homeless across Yorkshire.
Children at the Rawha Academy Saturday school, based at Lapage Primary School, in Barkerend Road, made the packages on Saturday as part of their Feed 500 project.
The group of about 80 children, and their parents, then distributed the packages to churches and homeless charities.
In Bradford, the parcels were given to groups including Horton Housing Day Shelter, the Italian Mission based in Little Horton Lane, African Elders Association and the Assemblies of God Church.
Each parcel contained hot food, including rice and chicken dishes, a bottle of water, fruit and crisps.
The Bishop of Bradford Right Rev Dr Toby Haworth was at the school as the parcels were made up.
Headteacher Mohammed Ismail said: "The project has been fantastic, a real team effort.
"It's quite inspirational to see the children do this. It really binds the community together too.
"We are doing our bit for the common good by helping those in need.
"It shows that the children want to give back. It's our contribution to help people and look at the bigger picture."
