A GIRL of 14 was pinned down and her mouth covered by a man who raped her in the bedroom of a Bradford house, a jury was told.

The child was reported missing from home in her summer holiday after Farhaad Ali drove her to his home late at night and sexually attacked her, Bradford Crown Court heard.

Ali, 24, of Wheatlands Drive, Manningham, Bradford, denies raping the teenager in his bedroom in August, 2013.

Prosecutor Stephen Wood told the court yesterday that a police safeguarding officer became concerned about what had happened to the girl, now 16, during the period she was missing.

The child denied that anything sexual had been done to her but the officer remained suspicious and took her clothing for scientific analysis.

Mr Wood said DNA evidence on the girl's knickers matched that of the defendant.

Ali was arrested on October 15, 2013, on suspicion of having sex with the teenager.

He told the police he "chatted to a lot of underage girls on Facebook," but denied any wrongdoing.

He made 'no comment' answers to all further police questions, the court was told.

A month later, the girl picked Ali out at a police identification procedure.

In January, 2014, she wrote down what she said had happened to her for a child exploitation officer with the Barnado's children's charity.

Mr Wood said part of it read: "Farhaad forced me to do it with him."

The following summer, the girl agreed to give a recorded interview to the police.

In her statement she said she went to Ali's house after speaking to him on the phone and meeting him in the street.

He said he wanted to "chill" with her.

Once in his bedroom, he touched her indecently, pinned her down on the bed and put his hand over her mouth while raping her.

She said she was scared and did not know what to do.

He then took her home and she did not tell anyone.

The girl said she had not been attracted to Ali and she changed her phone number afterwards so he could not ring her.

The trial continues.
