A NIGHT-TIME flasher chased two young girl campers round a field with his trousers down, Bradford Crown Court heard.

Daniel Emsley was drunk when he exposed himself to the children, aged 12 and 13, and pursued them when they fled in fear.

Prosecutor Nick Askins said the youngsters were on an overnight camping trip in a field on the outskirts of Keighley when Emsley appeared.

He was falling about drunk when he approached their tent and shouted: "Oi!"

Emsley, 22, told the girls he wanted to get into the tent to chill with them.

He then walked over and pulled down his trousers, exposing himself.

One girl accidentally touched his private parts when she went to push him away, the court was told.

Emsley, who was 20 at the time of the incident, on January 13, 2013, laughed.

He pulled up his trousers but then dropped them again and chased after the frightened girls round the field.

They went for help to a householder they knew in the area.

Emsley was caught after the girls mentioned the incident at school, Mr Askins said.

He denied the offence when he was arrested and questioned by the police.

He pleaded guilty on the day he was to stand trial to exposure and sentence was adjourned until last Wednesday (June 10) for the preparation of a report from the probation service.

One of the girls was on stand-by to be called into court to give evidence at his trial.

Emsley's barrister, Jayne Beckett, said the offence was nearly two and a half years ago.

He had not been in trouble since and had no previous convictions for sexual offences.

Judge Peter Benson said: "This was a drunken piece of stupidity."

He told Emsley, of South Street, Swineshead, near Boston, Lincolnshire: "It was an offence out of character when you were drunk and which you have now come to regret.

"This is a one-off offence that is unlikely to be repeated."

Judge Benson sentenced Emsley to a three year community order with supervision and a high level activity requirement with the probation service.

He must sign on the sex offenders' register for five years.
