NATIONAL charity Heart Research UK is calling on people to take part in its Yorkshire Dales Hike for Your Heart festival in June and raise money to help in the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease.

Get your friends, family, colleagues (and even your dog) together for this fantastic, fun and feel good day out whilst keeping your heart healthy and raising money for research into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease.

On June 20, the charity is hosting its own walking festival in the Yorkshire Dales and is encouraging people to take part in one of its walks.

There is no entry fee so all participants have to do is raise as much money as possible for Heart Research UK. You can sign up as an individual or as a group, so why not get colleagues or relatives involved?

There are two routes to choose from:

The Yorkshire Dales Valleys Walk. This is an enjoyable 16 mile walk, predominantly on flat ground, so perfect for those wanting a less strenuous walk than the Three Peaks but a challenge nonetheless.

You will take in the stunning views of the Yorkshire Three Peaks whilst meandering through the lower valleys. Thanks to your feedback last year this is now a guided walk, perfect for families and less experienced walkers.

The escorted 16 miles Valleys Walk, for those who don’t want the full climb, will skirt around the valleys below each peak, taking in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales scenery.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks. Take on this famous 25 mile hike across the spectacular Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. This hike is featured on many people's to do list and we are giving you the opportunity to tick it off whilst raising funds to enable us to continue our work; helping people to live healthier, happier and longer lives.

Barbara Harpham, National Director at Heart Research UK, says: “The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge includes a gentler walk along the valleys as well as the full climb so will appeal to all audiences. It is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and is such a wonderful day with families, friends and colleagues, all Hiking for their Hearts, raising money so that we can be ‘Helping Hearts’ all over the country. ”
