AIREDALE Hospital’s board of directors are taking to the road and stopping off in Settle to find out what are the burning health issues for residents.

They will also be letting people know about the latest developments in health care at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and how services are managed and delivered. There will also be a chance to put questions to board members.

This public board meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 24, between 10.30am and 12.30pm at Victoria Hall. A mini health fair will be held between 1pm and 3pm including health-checks and demonstrations featuring the hospital’s telemedicine service, which allows medical consultations to take place on screen via a secure video link from your own home, GP surgery or care home and the Goldline service – a 24-hour telephone support and advice line available seven days a week for patients who may be in the last year of their life. Governors will be on hand to talk about their role and there will be an opportunity to see a video giving a guided tour of our new £6m emergency department.

Interactive stands will be run by community groups including Age UK, Carers Resource, Horizons, North Craven Strollers, Art for Airedale, and Pioneer projects.

Michael Luger, chair of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said: “All our board meetings are open to members of the public, but we appreciate that due to the large area we serve it may be too far for some people to travel to Airedale Hospital and so we are taking our meetings out into the community to involve them in our discussions.

“This is a chance for you to tell us what health related issues are important to you. We will be hosting ‘listening sessions’ in the afternoon so you can give your points of view direct to our directors.

“We would be delighted to meet as many people from Settle or the surrounding area as possible as we feel it’s important that local people have the opportunity to learn more about the work we are doing and feel part of it. There is no need to book, just turn up on the day to any part of the event.”

Any questions for the board should be submitted before the meeting to the company secretary email jane.downes@anhst.nhs.uk Refreshments will be provided.

Last October, Airedale Hospital held its board meeting at the Civic Centre in Keighley.
