Bradford & Bingley is leading a Prince of Wales backed-initiative to bring increased investment into Bradford.

The bank is heading up a event to host UK business leaders to learn more about the economic regeneration of the city.

The visit will be organised as part of the Prince of Wales' Seeing is Believing programme, an initiative from the Business in the Community (BITC) organisation to help show business leaders how they can play a role in tackling social and environmental issues.

Steven Crawshaw, group chief executive at the Bradford & Bingley, will lead the visit which is likely to feature ten to 14 business leaders. They will visit regeneration sites and community centres with a view to getting business leaders to take action to help out the city.

Jenny Metcalfe, regional events manager at BITC, said: "We are still planning our programme.

"The visit will be themed on regeneration and economic renewal.

"We will probably go for a mixture of regeneration sites and community centres. Hopefully after the day we will be able to persuade the visitors into some sort of action."

Bradford & Bingley made the announcement as part of their 2006 report into their corporate and social responsibility programme.

The Bingley-based company was named in the BITC top 100 UK companies last year for its CSR programme and has won plaudits for its community work.

It invested £500,000 in Bradford's regeneration last year by putting money into the National Media Museum's newly re-launched TV gallery.

It sponsors Bradford City Football Club, runs a scheme with the Bradford Bulls to work in schools to promote healthy lifestyles and contributed cash towards Yorkshire County Cricket Club's new indoor cricket centre which will be involved in helping develop youth and disabled cricket in the area.

In total it invested £512.28 per employee in community programmes during 2006.

It also became one of the first FTSE100 companies to become carbon neutral this year following an extensive environmental efficiency review.
