A RALLY against austerity is taking place in Bradford city centre today.
Bradford People’s Coalition Against the Cuts (BPCAC) has organised the protest in Centenary Square and expects between 200 and 300 people to attend.
Neal Heard, a representative of the group, said: "We have called this peaceful demonstration in Bradford city centre to take place on the day that parliament opens. The new Conservative government was recently elected with the support of less than 25 per cent of the total, eligible voters.

"They remain committed to policies of austerity that have been rejected by most other countries as counter-productive because they cause the economy to stagnate.
"We believe that the politics of austerity have and will cause a great deal of harm to our city, the surrounding district and our communities."
The rally is taking place from 5pm to 6pm.
