BRADFORD'S annual World Curry Festival has been postponed because of "unforeseen" circumstances, its organisers have said.

The three-day celebration of all things spicy had been due to take place in Bradford's City Park from June 5 to 7, and posters had already been put up across the city.

But yesterday, a statement from organisers said the festival was being postponed, with new dates not yet set.

The statement said: "It is with regret that the World Curry Festival due to take place in City Park, Bradford between Friday, June 5, and Sunday, June 7, 2015 will now be postponed until later in the year.

"The circumstances surrounding the rescheduling were completely unforeseen, and sadly unavoidable."

Organisers said two events planned to coincide with the festival - Ilkley Literature Festival’s weekend of poetry Words in the City and the BBC Music day For the Love of Music - would be going ahead as planned.

The statement continued: "The World Curry Festival will announce new dates for 2015 very soon."
