THE mystery of a Silsden stained glass window, now in a house in Worcestershire, may have been solved.
Joyce Rose, 93, of Bredon, near Tewkesbury, has a colourful picture of kingfishers flying by the water’s edge, mounted in her kitchen door.
She was told the painted glass originally came from a house in Silsden that had been demolished.
Following an appeal for information, Mrs Rose was contacted by a Baildon man with information about the picture’s history.
She was told the house had been called Moorfield and originally belonged to the owners of Drivers’ mill.
About 100 years ago, mill-owning siblings Arthur and Frank gave great support to the newly-formed Silsden Golf Club.
The brothers put a lot of money into the club in its early days, gradually buying the land that the club now plays on. Frank was the president for many years between 1911 and 1935.
