STEETON Flower Club is supporting a national campaign backed by TV gardener Alan Titchmarsh to spread a little happiness.

Members will be distributing posies on park benches and at other locations district-wide on May 1.

The Lonely Bouquet venture aims to show kindness to unsuspecting passers-by who pick-up the floral displays.

Steeton club colleagues will be creating posies this evening ready for distribution.

“Our members live and work across the area and will be leaving the posies on park benches and in shops, libraries etc anywhere from Skipton to Keighley,” said club chairman Susan Little.

“Our intention is to make people smile as well as offering them a chance to attend a flower evening at our club, to meet and chat to new people.

“Each bouquet will have a large label attached with our details on it.”

Morrisons at Skipton is donating some of the flowers.

Country-wide, the campaign is being staged by the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies.
