TODAY the Telegraph & Argus can reveal the winner of our annual Happy Tots competition.

Alanah Johnson has scooped the top prize, following in the footsteps of her elder sister, who took the top prize four years ago.

Alanah, who turns one next month, came out top by hundreds of votes in the final round of the competition, which is now in its 14th year.

Her parents said they were delighted with the double-triumph and were looking forward to spoiling Alanah for her upcoming birthday with the vouchers that form part of the prize.

Mum Jessica Smith, 24, and dad Shafiq Johnson, 26, of Radwell Drive, Little Horton, will now place the winning photo alongside that of their elder daughter, Amelia, now five, who was the Happy Tots overall winner in 2011.

Ms Smith said: "We were so shocked when we got the phone call to say Alanah had won. I was at work at the time, so rang her dad and he thought I was joking. It must be the first time that two siblings have won.

"Amelia is so proud of her for winning - she has been telling everyone at school."

The Telegraph & Argus teamed up once again with the Kirkgate Shopping Centre in Bradford to give the overall winner £500 of shopping vouchers, a large canvas print of the child's photo, a play pass to the Jungle At The Junction soft-play gym at Black Dyke Mills in Queensbury, and a character balloon.

The winners of each age group receive a canvas print and a play pass.

MsSmith said: "Alanah's already grown up a lot since the photo was taken in January. She's not walking yet, just crawling, but is already talking really well."

She said the couple planned to spend the shopping vouchers on both daughters, buying toys, summer clothes and nappies at the Kirkgate Centre.

And the secret to the family's success in the competition: "We have a big family, so we ask them all to vote," Ms Smith said.

The winners for each age category were Harmony-Bluebelle Hughes in the nought to six months category, Alanah Johnson in the seven to 12 months category, Kayla-Mae Bottomley in the 13 to 24 months category, Sara Sadiya in the 25 to 36 months category and Urooj Fatima in the 37 months to five years category.
