A MAN on trial for conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in a murder case was today found not guilty.

Muhammed Qureshi, 39, of Pembroke Avenue, Luton, Bedfordshire, was cleared, on the direction of Judge Peter Benson at Bradford Crown Court. He had denied the charge.

He was accused of helping his brother, Nouman Qureshi, to get Danish Irfan out of the country after Irfan had killed his wife.

Irfan, 22, fled Bradford, leaving the body of his wife Ridda Zanab, 21, at their home in Alford Terrace, Lidget Green, in November 2013.

Nouman Qureshi, 33, of Duchywood, Heaton, Bradford, has pleaded guilty and will be sentenced later.

Judge Benson told the jury: "In the case of Muhammed Qureshi I have decided that there is insufficient evidence against him for you to consider."

Mr Qureshi was discharged.

The trial continues in the cases of Faisal Chaudhary, 34, of Grantham Road, Ilford, Essex, and Javaid Awan, 33, of Blackburn Road, Ilford.
