A QUEENSBURY school will be able to re-develop its playgrounds - thanks to a grant from a major local employer.

The Leo Group, which runs Omega Proteins in nearby Thornton. has awarded Shibden Head Primary School a grant of £1,692 from its community fund. The school will now use the cash for an upgrade of its playgrounds.

The school will now develop a vibrant outdoor learning environment for its reception and year one pupils. The improvements, scheduled to take place this summer, will enable the children to learn through play in an alternative learning space. The new playground markings are designed to develop reading and writing skills as well as number and letter recognition.
