A MAN who admitted having sex with a 13-year-old Bradford girl while she was wearing her school uniform was granted bail for further inquiries into his health.

But Bilal Hussain, 26, was told by a judge that the offences were so serious custody was almost inevitable.

Hussain, of Lytton Avenue, Cheetham Hill, Manchester, was due to be sentenced at Leeds Crown Court yesterday after pleading guilty at a previous hearing to four charges of sexual activity with a child.

Hussain drove to Bradford on a number of occasions and had consensual sex with the girl in his car after they chatted on the Blackberry messaging service. At the time she was 13 and he was 24.

The case was adjourned for reports from the probation service and Hussain’s doctor after the court heard he had suffered a heart attack.

Yesterday Hussain’s barrister, Adrian Harris, told Judge Christopher Batty there was a short letter from his client’s consultant cardiologist indicating his health could suffer in custody.

Mr Harris said Hussain was also now saying the girl had told him she was 17.

Judge Batty adjourned the case to a date to be fixed for more details to be obtained from the defendant’s consultant.

The judge granted bail but warned Hussain: “I am unlikely to be persuaded that your medical condition is such that you will not receive a custodial sentence. This is serious offending and a custodial sentence is practically inevitable.”
