A GIANT ferris wheel that will offer spectacular views across Bradford is being constructed in the heart of the city.

The 35-metre high Bradford Eye, which has 24 gondola carriages, will open to the public tomorrow (Wednesday). It will remain in place until April 19.

Workmen began building the giant structure on Sunday. It is expected to be completed by lunchtime tomorrow.

Owner Jan de-Koning said: "The giant wheel, we hope, will be a fantastic addition to the various events going on in the city over the holidays and it is something that will appeal to all ages."

The wheel will be open from 11am until 6pm between Sundays and Thursdays, from 11am to 10pm on Fridays, and 10am until 10pm on Saturdays.
