A BRADFORD man has been released from custody after being arrested on suspicion of holding up a woman's car at gunpoint.

Police have now released an image of the Volkswagen Golf R32, which was taken from the 31-year-old woman as she parked in Cleckheaton Road, Low Moor, just after 7pm on Monday.

The woman was approached by a man, who got out of a silver vehicle and asked calmly for the keys.

He was believed to be holding a gun.

Earlier today, 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence. He has been released without charge.

Detective Inspector Ryan Bragg, of Bradford District CID, said: "The vehicle stolen is quite distinctive in colour as it is electric blue.

"It is also a five-door version of the R32 and we believe these are quite rare.

"It is likely that someone will have seen this car as it drove off from Cleckheaton Road, or since then.

"They may even have been offered it for sale.

"We are also keen to trace the vehicle used by the suspect, which was a silver hatchback-type vehicle with a headlight out."

The suspect is believed to be Asian, about 5ft 9ins tall, and of average build.

He was said to speak with an English accent, and was wearing a grey hooded jumper, which was used to cover his face.

Anyone with information about either vehicle, the suspect, or anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the Cleckheaton Road area at around the above time, is asked to contact Bradford District CID on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
