PUPILS at a Bradford school put on brave faces as they got to hold tarantulas, snakes and some more cute and cuddly animals.
The creatures were brought to Sandy Lane Primary School to meet Key Stage 1 children on Friday. The children have been learning about nocturnal animals, and to bring the project to life, the school called in Dean Roots, from Meet a Creature.
Darren Robinson, deputy head, said: “Children were able to hold and stroke the animals. They met a tarantula, a snake, a tree frog, a ghekko and a very friendly rabbit. Dean told the children all about the animals’ natural habitats, their diet and some fascinating facts.
“For example, children learned that a frog’s skin must always be wet so they can breathe and, if you touch a frog with dry hands, you might tear their delicate skin. It was a fantastic, memorable experience for pupils and teachers.”
