A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 40-year-old suffered "life-changing" injuries when he plunged 40 feet from a window.

Detectives are also hunting a second man following the flat fall in which the victim received multiple fractures of the spine, other multiple fractures and internal injuries.

Police were called to Woodview Terrace, Manningham, Bradford, at about 8.40pm yesterday where they found the man with serious injuries to his head and chest on a concrete patio.

The senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Steve Snow, of Homicide and Major Enquiries Team, said the man, who lived alone in the flat was undergoing surgery and was in a critical condition.

“At this stage we don't know the prognosis,” he added.

Det Chief Snow said police attended the address following a call from the ambulance service, which had found a man with significant injuries at the back of a terraced property, which had been divided into multi occupancy flats.

He said: "We believe an incident has taken place within the top floor flat of the victim, which has resulted in him being pushed out of the window."

He said the victim had fallen about 40 feet. He had hit an extension before landing on the concrete patio below.

Det Chief Insp Snow said that as part of the investigation a number of witnesses had been traced which resulted in the identification of a possible suspect who may have been involved in an altercation within the flat.

"As a result of continuing inquiries, a 41-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody while inquiries continue."

Police are still keen to trace a man who may have significant information about what happened in the flat.

"We are keen to speak to a man who was seen in the area at the time. He is described as white, about 5ft 9ins tall and of slim build. We now believe he may be called John."

"He is believed to be in his late twenties or early thirties and had short blond hair.

"The victim appears to have suffered life-changing injuries in this incident, so it is important we trace this man and find out his reasons for being there,” Det Chief Insp Snow said.
