A FLEET of classic steam trains, including one returning to action for the first time in 13 years, attracted crowds to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway’s annual Winter Steam Gala.
The five-mile long rail track runs between Keighley and Oxenhope, and is one of the district’s biggest tourist attractions.
The steam gala is one of the most popular events on its calendar, and this year’s celebration of vintage trains included the return of the British Railways Standard Class 4 No. 75078, which has undergone a comprehensive refurbishment.
Kieran Pilsworth, who organises the event, said the passengers managed to avoid most of the weekend’s worst weather.
He added: “It has been very busy, a great weekend. There were a lot of families about, it wasn’t just die-hard train fans.
“On some of the carriages there were very few seats remaining. The 75078 was back in service after 13 years, so that was very popular.”
