FRIDAY the 13th next month could be lucky for some young aspiring ballet dancers in Bradford.

One hundred dancers are wanted to join the English Youth Ballet in their ghostly full-length production of Giselle at St George’s Hall, from June 5-6.

English Youth Ballet, directed by Janet Lewis, will be holding auditions at St George’s Hall on Friday, March 13, and is keen to offer opportunities to male and female dancers aged eight to 18 of all levels of experience. Those successful youngsters will have be offered the chance to rehearse with and dance alongside international professional principal dancers.

Janet Lewis enjoyed an illustrious dancing career with the Royal Ballet Company and London Festival Ballet dancing alongside such greats as Margot Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev. The EYB aims to give professional performance experience to young dancers in beautiful venues close to where they live. The dancers will benefit from being coached and mentored by the professional dancers in an 11-day rehearsal period which takes place out of school hours.

Audition times on March 13 are: 4.30pm to 6.15pm (ages eight to 11) and 6.45pm to 8.30pm (ages 12-18). The audition fee is £15 and all dancers participate in a full ballet class on the stage. Parents are invited to watch in the auditorium.
