A £20MILLION plan to demolish the Jacob’s Well offices used by Bradford Council and replace them with a new building for 3,500 staff has been unveiled today.

The state-of-the-art 200,000 sq ft city centre building (pictured) would bring together people who work across the public sector, including civil servants, local authority workers, police officers and NHS staff.

The idea behind the private sector-funded project is to provide a shared space and facilities to bring more employment opportunities and greater footfall to the city.

The shared green technology hub would also enable organisations to deliver more-streamlined services and share information and working practices.

Bradford Council leader David Green (pictured) said: “Other developments are already attracting inward investment and promoting local growth, and this hub would do the same.”

The programme is being managed by expert public sector programme managers DragonGate and delivered by McLaren Properties and Chiltington Land. McLaren Properties was set to signing the agreement this week today in the Council Chamber at Bradford City Hall.

John Gatley from McLaren Properties said: “The Jacob’s Well site is a fantastic location for a public sector hub. It’s a great time to work in Bradford as the regeneration of the city is progressing all the time and the Council are very supportive and easy to work with.”
