POLICE investigating the death of a 70-year-old man whose mobility scooter was hit by a car in Bradford, have this afternoon arrested a man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene after he was struck by a black Seat Leon as he crossed Leeds Road, close to the junction with Thornbury Avenue, yesterday lunchtime.

His scooter was left embedded in the front of the car and the victim was hurled 15 feet into the road.

Witnesses said two young Asian men got out of the car and ran off.

Police said this afternoon they had arrested a 34-year-old man from an address in Bradford on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Detectives are still seeking witnesses to the collision or anyone with information.
