MONDAY night's guest poet at the monthly poetry reading at the New Beehive Inn, Westgate, is Lincolnshire-born Pat Borthwick.
She spent much of her early life on the rivers and canals of England but now lives in the High Wolds of East Yorkshire.
Serendipity re-routed sculptor Pat to writing short stories and poetry after she lost the use of her workshop. She soon found her work winning prizes and being published.
She won the BBC Radio short story competition and began to be approached by publishers for her stories and poetry.
She has three full-length collections of poetry and several pamphlets. Her competition successes include the Keats-Shelley prize, the Basil Bunting Award and the Templar Pamphlet prize.
Last year she won the Ted Hughes Elmet Prize and has twice been awarded an International Writers' Hawthornden Fellowship.
Bradford writer Ed Reiss will also take part.
Entry is by a £3.00 donation.
