NEARLY a quarter of cars clocked during a police speedwatch in Eccleshill were travelling above the speed limit, it has been revealed.
The speed checks took place on Saturday afternoon, and came about after concerns from the Eccleshill Village Steering Group.
One watch took place on Pullan Avenue between 2.15pm and 2.45pm. Out of 80 cars that passed by, 22 were caught exceeding the 30mph speed limit, with the fastest travelling at 50mph. That vehicle was registered to a property on the road.
A check on Stonehall Road between 2.14pm and 3pm found two out of 20 cars exceeding the speed limit.
