Songs galore from Elvis to Oklahoma!

6:00am Friday 9th February 2007

Singers from the region are in the final stages of rehearsal for a concert at Leeds Town Hall.

The concert, by Sing Live, features choral arrangements of a range of music from Robbie Williams's Angels to the music of Elvis Presley and numbers from shows including West Side Story and Oklahoma!

Musical director Steve Roberts has won top awards for his work as a conductor and musician. He has worked with choral companies in the UK and South America and conducted concerts with Jose Carreras and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. Recently, he was Sing Live's musical director for Jane MacDonald's national tour and the company performed with her across the UK.

"Sing Live's massed voices create a unique wall of sound, the experience is special," says Steve. "It's an honour to work with such talented singers, I'm always impressed by the way the singers learn such a range of music, from pop to musicals and classical, and are word perfect by concert day.

"Our singers never perform with the words or music in front of them. That way they really sing out and communicate with the audience."

Local people of all ages, from Bradford and surrounding areas, make up the choir.

The Sing Live concert is at Leeds Town Hall on February 17 and 18. Tickets are available on (0113) 224 3801.
