A female passenger was taken to Leeds General Infirmary suffering from serious head and neck injuries after two cars crashed in Bradford city centre this morning.
The accident happened close to the former Odeon building on the junction of Thornton Road, Godwin Street and Prince's Way at around 9am.
Four ambulances were at the scene. The injured woman was travelling in the Astra.
Police investigations were still ongoing at the scene just before 1pm.
One witness said the two vehicles involved - a black Vauxhall Astra and a black Land Rover Freelander - looked badly damaged.
The collision also caused a backlog of traffic.
Councillor Ralph Berry, who was caught up in the traffic, said: "It's quite shocking. It caused quite a bit of a backlog.
"The small car was completely crunched."
