A MAN who got stuck down a steep ravine is in a stable condition in hospital, police said today.

The 34-year-old was taken to Leeds General Infirmary yesterday with suspected hypothermia after getting trapped in Queensbury.

Fire and rescue crews from six stations, including the technical rescue unit from Cleckheaton, plus Calder Valley Mountain Rescue Team and police were at the incident in Shibden Head Lane.

Rescue crews first responded to reports just before noon that a man was in the beck, but on arrival it was discovered he was down a steep ravine-type banking.

His rescuers had to use ropes to bring him to safety and he was taken to Leeds General Infirmary by the air ambulance by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Inspector Alex Daniels, from Bradford District Police, said: "At 11.48am officers were called to reports of a man in the beck off Shibden Head Lane, Queensbury.

"A number of emergency personnel attended the scene including police, fire, paramedics, and mountain rescue teams.

"The male was treated by medical personnel before he was lifted from the ravine, which was around 30 metres from the road.

"The male, who is a 34-year-old local man, was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary where he remains in a critical condition.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances to the incident."
