AN ARMED man twice caught causing a disturbance on Bradford’s streets has been remanded in custody to the care of a mental hospital.
Paul Kingston, 55, of Barkerend Road, Bradford, appeared in the dock at Bradford Crown Court yesterday accompanied by four nurses.
He pleaded guilty to two offences of affray, in Wellington Street, off Sticker Lane, and Morley Street in the city centre, on October 4 and 12, when he had two knives with him on each occasion.
He also admitted damaging a police cell after his arrest on both dates.
Kingston’s solicitor advocate, Alistair Bateman, said he had been transferred from prison to Lynfield Mount Hospital in Bradford.
One psychiatrist had already diagnosed mental health problems which meant he was unfit to stand trial.
The court heard that a second similar report was being prepared by another doctor.
The case was adjourned until March 3 when a judge is expected to make a Hospital Order.
