A large amount of cash has been stolen from a man outside a Bradford Post Office.

Bradford CID would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident which took place at about 12.15pm yesterday outside the Post Office on Manchester Road, in Bradford.

It occurred after the victim, a 23-year-old local man, arrived at the post office in a taxi with the takings from his business.

As he exited the car and walked towards the building he was approached by a man carrying a black metal bar, who threatened him for the bag of cash he was carrying.

He then roughly pulled the bag from the victim and made off, getting into a silver VW Golf which was parked to the rear of the Post Office building on Carr Bottom Lane.

The victim was left with a hand injury as a result of the bag being snatched from him.

The suspect was described as white, 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build. He was wearing a blue and white hooded top, a scarf across his mouth, and black gloves.

A second male, who was waiting for the masked man and fled with him in the Golf, was described as wearing an Adidas tracksuit.

Detective Inspector Ryan Bragg of Bradford District CID, said: "We are investigating this robbery and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the offence itself, which took place at a time of day when there would have been plenty of people around, or who saw the car make off.

"We have now recovered the VW Golf, which was carrying reg plates NL58 EOG, and I am keen to speak to anyone who saw this car being driven in the city or abandoned on Watty Hall Avenue where it was located."

He added: "This was a serious offence in which a large amount of cash was taken and I would ask anyone who has information to contact Bradford District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
