GRANTS worth up to £100,000 could be available for roof repairs at places of worship in Bradford this month.

Listed buildings which are also places of worship are open to applications for grants between £10,000 and £100,000 for roof repairs in an attempt to ensure they are kept watertight, safe and open for use.

Money is available through the government-funded Listed Place of Worship: Roof Repair Fund and is open to all faiths and denominations.

Nationally £15m is available and there is a deadline for appliations, which is January 30.

There is also some funding available to finance structural investigations, specialist reports and bat surveys.

Culture Secretary Sajid Javid said: “Our places of worship are wonderful examples of our heritage that we’re proud to invest in. This fund will help conserve and maintain these historic buildings so they can continue to play a vital role in the communities they serve for years to come.”

Decisions on the successful bids will be announced in March. More information available at lpowroof.org.uk.
