A BRADFORD businessman who was jailed for fraud in a "breathtaking fall from grace" committed a vehicle insurance scam within weeks of his release.

Anthony Gribbin, who was imprisoned for three years in 2012, pleaded guilty to an £8,000 fraud yesterday and was warned by a judge at Bradford Crown Court to expect a prison sentence.

Gribbin, 36, of historic Leaventhorpe Hall, Thornton Road, Thornton, admitted the offence on the day he was to stand trial.

He dishonestly tried to make a gain of £6,500 on a forklift and £2,000 on a trailer, between August 19 and September 19, 2013.

Gribbin was re-bailed to be sentenced at Leeds Crown Court on February 10.

His case was adjourned for a probation report at the request of his barrister, Manisha Singh.

Judge Robert Bartfield warned Gribbin: "I have to tell you that I cannot see any alternative to a custodial sentence as things stand and you must prepare yourself for that sentence on the day."

Gribbin was jailed in April 2012 for "deviously and deliberately" selling on more than £200,000 of stolen farming and construction machinery.

He pleaded guilty to seven offences of dishonestly handling farm and building vehicles, including John Deere tractors, a mini digger, tele-handlers and a feeder machine, valued at more than £213,000, between July 16, 2009, and November 5, 2009.
