PRIVATE landlords in Kirklees are being urged to boost security at their properties through a new scheme.
Kirklees Council has teamed up with West Yorkshire Police, the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and contractor Fresh Horizons to offer landlords a substantial discount on the cost of upgrading their properties’ security.
Money for the initiative has come from the PCC and gives landlords 50 per cent off the cost of parts and fitting by Fresh Horizons. To qualify for the offer, landlords need to be members of the Kirklees Landlord Accreditation Scheme, a voluntary code of practice to encourage good standards and management practices.
Landlords are encouraged to act fast as funding is limited.
